Morning at Summer Bay followed by Whale Watching.

A little more sleep last night than previous nights gave me a boost of energy for the day.  First surprise activity of the day was to Palm Beach where the famous Summer Bay Surf Club is, and well timed as they were filming today.  Lucky for me, I got my pictures taken with some of the cast from Home and Away.  Martha I had to chase down for the photo and strangely enough I was told by her I smelt nice…weird, but rumour has it, it’s not the only thing she’s been sniffing of recent!  Not sure if Cuzzy was too impressed by the whole set, we could have told him it was the set of Neighbours and he wouldn’t have known any better!!  We wrapped up our visit to Summer Bay with some boomerang throwing on the beach which was typically unsatisfactory, I’ve yet to find a boomerang that does actually return!

A stop for lunch and a tour at Four Pines Brewery in Manly was next, the food was good and the beer was nicer.  A tour of the brewery would be an overstatement; it’s not really built for that, more like a bar that brews its own beer rather than a “brewery”.  But Peter the brewer gave us the low down on the beers, pointed out the different machines used to brew and then joined us for a beer tasting session.

After lunch we returned to Darling Harbour for whale watching off the coast.  Nothing more favourable than sitting on a boat in the sun taking in the views of Sydney on the way out to sea.  We travelled out to sea to find the Whales and followed a pod (group of whales) which were swimming gracefully alongside the boat.  The staff were very friendly and their attention to detail was much appreciated!  En route back to the harbour, the boat ran into slight difficulty but nothing like shoving all the weight to the front of the boat and a little ‘reset’ or two or three to get us up and running again.  One upshot of this gave us the chance to watch the sunset, and wait for it, it has to be said……..we had a whale of a time!!
