Arrival and ‘Official’ Day One

Well we made it to Sydney without dieing, which is always a bonus. On arrival we were greeted by a large group of people wearing cut out masks of mine and Derv’s faces. Made me laugh. Also with the cameras there we severly disappointed people when they presumed some famous people were going to be walking through the door.

We were then swiftly taken to our ‘sweet’ suite! We got a really nice apartment suite in Key West Hotel facing the Sydney harbour bridge and Opera house. Not bad indeed. We havent had much time there though.

We then went to meet a chef named Jared, down at Bondi Beach, who showed us how to cook a real Bondi BBQ. I was pretty good at flipping the burgers. I know your impressed. Bondi is soooooooooooooo nice. I would love to be there in the summer too. It did want to make me surf even though I have never surfed haha.

We then retired to our bed’s finally. Tried watching tv, but every channel was full of Michael Jackson. Such a shame about him dieing.

Tried sleeping last night, woke up at 3am, great stuff…not haha.

Then today was officially our first day. We got to Darling Harbour at 9am for a little walk around. Great place to chill and eat. It has the world’s largest IMAX screen there also. We then went to the aquarium in the harbour, checked out my fave type of fish…the shark. Also got shown these weird looking whale type things called, actually wait, I cant remember their name. Once you see the video’s of it, you realise I had trouble with their name the whole day.

So after checking out the how they look after fish, we then went to the Sydney Seafood School to kill fish haha. The Sydney Seafood School is based at the Sydney Fish Market. We were shown by a wonderful chef how to cook three types of Thai dishes. I am not the greatest lover of fish, but I went in there opened minded. We made a Thai prawn soup, a Thai red fish curry, and a squid salad. I tried all three, hasn’t changed my mind about fish, but the class was really informative and good fun.

Now we are off to watch Australia hopefully beat the French at the Sydney Olympic Stadium in the rugby union game.
